It was a warm, sun-soaked morning in early August when a group of adventurers gathered at the starting point, their bikes lined up, ready to roll. There wasn’t any rush, just the open road ahead and good company to enjoy the ride. With backpacks packed with snacks and water bottles, we pedaled through scenic paths, laughing and chatting as we went, taking in the beauty of summer.
The journey from Munich’s city center to Lake Starnberg is a picturesque ride that starts by following the winding paths along the Isar River. As you leave the bustling streets of the city, the route quickly transforms into a peaceful stretch of greenery, with the gentle flow of the river accompanying you. The ride is scenic with occasional views of people doing traditional Isar rafting.
After about 25 kilometers, the shimmering waters of Lake Starnberg come into view where we recharged our battery with food at a beergarden and the cool water of the lake.
As the sun began to set, we gathered our bikes and made our way to the nearby train station. We were tired, but happy when we got on the train. It was a successful day of cycling with great company, nice views, and well deserved refreshments at the lake!
